Specialist Selection Edit

Selecting Specialists is critical to being successful in any game of subterfuge.

In the later stages of any game your tactical needs should be clear as you'll be working to solve specific problems. However, in the early stages of a game a number of specialists may be appealing.

Knowing the way specialists are presented (as detailed in the Specialists section) can be very useful when making difficult choices.

Specialist CategoriesEdit

Specialists are divided into three categories, Offensive, Defensive & Other.

There are 5 Offensive, 7 Defensive and 8 Other Specialists.

Every time you are presented with a choice of specialists the game will offer a choice of three, one from each of these categories.

Knowing these facts we can work out how likely it is that a specialist will become available and plan more effectively when creating our team of specialists.

Likelihood of Specialists Edit

The % Chance of any given specialist being available is listed below.

Your chances of any specific specialist will remain the same until you have selected one from that category.

Once you have selected a specialist from any given category, the chances of getting that same specialist goes down a little, and the other go up. Below are the chances you will get any specific but different specialist in a category where you already selected one specialist.

Conclusions Edit

What all this means is that since there are more of them, from a scarcity standpoint a Specialist from the Other category is generally more valuable then a Defensive one, which is generally more valuable then an Offensive one.

When faced with a coin toss on value to your strategy or potential play-ability, pick the specialist that is more rare because you are less likely to see it again. This is especially true if you are likely to favor Offensive over Defensive over Other because even if that specialist comes around again, you could very well also be presented with a Specialist with a higher value to your plans.
